Still Standing
Life Histories of Aboriginal People associated with the Shire of Hornsby
'We are here...and we have always been here'
Still Standing, available to borrow from Hornsby Library since 2011, was an initiative of Hornsby Area Residents for Reconciliation (HARR) with funding from Hornsby Shire Council and Reconciliation New South Wales.
It contains ten interviews with Aboriginal people who have lived or worked in the general area of Hornsby Shire. The interviews were conducted by a non-Indigenous professional historian, Dr Annette Salt.
This work was done to record and preserve the stories of Aboriginal people in the Hornsby Shire area and to help others understand their journey through direct access to their voices.
Now, in addition to borrowing the original Still Standing you can:
· Read interviews online
· Listen to recorded interviews
· View photographs.
You will find the resources saved on the Hornsby Shire Recollects website: https://hornsbyshire.recollect.net.au/nodes/view/7384
Over time the archive will grow as more interviews and oral histories are added.
