About HARR
HARR is part of the People's Movement for Reconciliation. We raise awareness, advocate for social justice and promote an appreciation of Aboriginal culture and heritage in and around the Hornsby Shire and beyond.
HARR’s objectives are to:
1. Provide opportunities for information exchange on reconciliation issues
2. Create opportunities for sharing knowledge, resources and expertise
3. Lobby and advocate for recognition and social justice for First Nations Peoples
4. Encourage in the local community:
- An understanding of the rights and contribution of First Nations Peoples
- An appreciation of First Nations cultures
- A celebration of the historical and ongoing presence and contributions of First Nations Peoples in our community.
Our membership is made up of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people from Hornsby Shire and beyond, coming from all walks of life, generations and sectors. Our membership continues to grow, buoyed by our work celebrating Aboriginal cultures and contributions, and educating the community about our true shared history via information stalls, door knocking, distribution of educational materials and public events.
